Bigg Boss 18 launched on October 6, and viewers were shocked when the show makers brought in the new entrant a donkey for the season as the 19th contestant. Although this was perceived as a social experiment the intention behind Gadhraj participation in the show was not quite evident. But this move of the makers went quite wrong because the animal was captured and also too many animal organizations came forward with objections.

A few days ago, PETA wrote to the makers and explained how such a move was wrong and how using an animal for entertainment was in some way damaging for the animal. The organisation also wrote a letter to host Salman Khan. Another organization PFA (People For Animals) also opposed that Gadhraj could not be kept in the house. After this, the makers set free the donkey off the show and Gadhraj became the first contestant to be eliminated of the new season.

The donkey left the show on Thursday itself and PFA also posted it in its official Instagram account too. The organistaion later released a statement to the effect that the donkey left the Bigg Boss house. These they put on social media, “Thank you so much Smt Maneka Sanjay Gandhi chairperson People for Animals for interceding in this issue. Thanks to all the people in the community who united to advocate the release of the donkey he was successful.”.

PETA India said this after they received complains from people and they wrote a letter to Salman Khan earlier this week. The letter stated, “The public through the埋is calling our attention to the fact that many members are distressed over the fact that a donkey is living in the Bigg Boss house. These are issues of concern their issues should not be dismissed. The letter called on Salman to plead with the makers to set free the donkey and for the contestant Gunaratna Sadavarte to hand over the donkey to PETA India for re-homing to a sanctuary on the islands for other rescued donkeys.

It was indicated that Gadhraj belongs to contestant Gunaratna, and the advocate took him on the show. However, PETA in its letter had said we agree that the “use of animals on a show set is no laughing matter, avoid using animals as props for entertainment.” This demand was made since any amount of stress was undesirable to the animal and any stress displayed towed the upset of the audience.
